Most of us have been in a situation when we’re in dire needs for cash. Whether it’s prom, a new laptop, paying the rent, or scraping enough cash to take a pretty lady out for a date, we’ve all been there.
The good news is that with a little bit of hustle and wit, making cash fast is pretty easy. You might actually be surprised at just how easy it is. If you’re looking to make a quick $50 (or more), then look no further.
I’m going to focus on the best ways to make money fast so that you see immediate returns on your investment (time). At the end, I list a couple of honorable mentions that didn’t quite make the list since they don’t offer instant returns, but are still great ways to make cash fairly quickly.
Let’s get into it.
Offer services to friends and neighbors.
One of my personal favorite and rather old-school ways of making cash. If you live in a neighborhood, is there anyone who would pay you to do some lawn work? What about shoveling snow? How about babysitting or pet sitting? Since you’re trying to get money fast, be proactive about asking people to do things for them. Be honest and let them know you’re trying to earn some money. Most people would be glad to 1. help you out and 2. help themselves out by letting you do things for them.
Tons of people online are looking for legitimate feedback from real users to help them build better you-name-its. Some survey companies I recommend: Swagbucks (also included below), Opinion Outpost, VIP Voice, Survey Downline, Earning Station, Survey Junkie, and Survey Spot. Every one of them is free to join and use AND there’s many other sites out there. Most surveys take on average 5-15 minutes to fill out and you can earn pretty good cash in just a couple hours worth.
Reviewing Websites and Apps for Cash
Know how to surf the internet? Uhh, yep. Check out usertesting.com, a site that pays you $10 for testing out other people’s products/apps. Need something of your own tested? The site works the other way as well.
This one is for those looking to get real weird with things. Swagbucks.com is a site you have to check out. You might not be able to earn heaps of cash, but you can earn gift cards to a number of places by doing things like:
- Taking surveys
- Watching videos
- Shopping online and earning cash back
- Browsing the web
- Playing games
Sell your body (or brain)
No, I’m not talking prostitution. Many universities are constantly looking for “guinea pigs” to help with surveys and experiments. This was a favorite of mine in college – I would frequently go up to the psychology lab and earn up to $20 for 30 minutes of my time filling out answers based on prompts. Some of the stuff is actually pretty interesting to be involved in. There’s also opportunities to partake in clinical trials and other things offered through research labs.
Forego Craigslist and Ebay, sell stuff to your friends, family, neighbors
Craigslist and Ebay made the honorable mentions below. That’s because there’s some lag time from posting whatever you’re selling and earning the money. With Ebay, there’s shipping times and more. Screw that. Why not cut out the middle man and go directly to people you know who might want something of yours? This is similar to the offering of services, but this time I’m talking things around your house. Is there a piece of furniture that you no longer need, but maybe your friend’s son could use going off to college? Ask and find out. Again, be honest and let them know why you’re selling stuff (to make some extra cash, not because the item sucks).
DD for your friends (for money)
Last and certainly not least, what better way to spend your nights out than watching your friends make asses of themselves, while being responsible and earning extra mula? Let your friends know you want to earn some extra cash and tell them you’ll either go out and not drink, or pick them up whenever their night’s over. It saves them time and money waiting for a taxi or Uber driver, plus there’s the comfort of knowing they have a ride. If there’s one thing your friends probably need after a night out, it’s a sure thing ;). None of that flaky, maybe stuff.
Here’s a short list of stuff that didn’t quite make the cut, but are still great ways to earn cash (pretty) quickly.
Fiverr – takes some time to market yourself
Craigslist – can be fast but not quite an immediate turn-around
Ebay – same as Craigslist, except add in shipping times
AirBnB – renting out your home and room requires you to find someone in need of a place first and then picking a date they’ll be staying
There you have it. I’d love to hear how you earned a quick $50 by using one or a combination of the methods above. I’d also love to hear about some other ways you earned quick cash (with integrity of course).
